Introduction to Fly Fishing
Classes are held on Saturdays beginning in April. Students will begin the day at the shop where we will discuss all the components of the fly-fishing rod and reel. Next, we will tie the necessary knots to assemble the backing, line and leader to the reel, finishing up with the knot to tie on the fly. The class will then head to the water where the instructor will teach the basic fly casts and line control and answer any questions. Once the students have mastered the basic cast, we will work on the presentation techniques – getting a fly to a fish. Upon completion of the introduction course, participants will have an understanding of the dynamics of fly-fishing, be able to independently assemble the equipment needed to enjoy the first outing and be fully prepared to advance to the next level of learning.
Classes are from 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays
More classes will be scheduled later into the summer months. Please call the shop or e-mail to schedule your date. If our schedule does not meet your time requirements, or to book a private course, please call us to make arrangements.
